Logical Fallacy… can I get some help here?
by DATA-DOG indr. leanna wen is currently spreading the fallacy that unvaccinated persons should have vaccines mandated because they are like drunk drivers… they have the right to be drunk at home she says, but wanting to be part of society at large without being vaccinated is like driving drunk and putting others at risk.
besides ignoring the science proving that persons who have had sars cov-2 have natural immunity that equals or exceeds anything that could be imparted from the mrna shot, without the side effects or need for boosters, ( sorry big pharma, you’ll be losing $$$ ) this illustration just smacks of illogical reasoning.
it reminds me of the borg comparing getting baptized to getting your driver’s license.

False equivalence is a logical fallacy in which an equivalence is drawn between two subjects based on flawed or false reasoning.
The facts are that most of the population has natural immunity, that's why we see cases dropping before there were even vaccines or a majority of people vaccinated and why we don't see a resurgence, even amongst the unvaccinated.
People have either natural immunity or vaccines by now. Pick your poison. There are very few people dying from COVID Delta variant today because you're either immune naturally or artificially. There is no evidence that people that have gotten COVID prior or that have gotten the vaccine are spreading the disease AT ALL.

What Will Happen If You Do NOT Get The Covid Vaccinations?
by minimus inwe are encouraged to all, if possible, get the vaccinations.
if you don’t, we are told that we definitely could get the virus.
fair enough.. but what happens if you decide you aren’t going to get the shots?

The virus can stay suspended in air particles because it typically gets there in bubbles of water that are warm and small enough not to land. On clean, dry surfaces, it dries out quickly and dies. On copper and copper alloy surfaces (most sanitary surfaces like drinking fountains and public bathroom sinks around here) it dies instantly.
Also in the air, it often gets picked up and quickly redistributed, whereas on surfaces, it stays on surfaces unless someone aerosolizes it.
Hence why surface transmission is not an issue, but air-to-air can be depending on the environment. Air-to-air transmission where lots of people share moist, room temperature air (eg. shared heating ducts) is the primary vector at this point for the virus besides direct transmission from person to person. Hence why lockdowns of parks and beaches and outside dining are counterproductive, because they force people inside.
If you are vaccinated, you have nothing to worry about, if you're under the age of 35, you have nothing to worry about, if you share a room with vaccinated, you have nothing to worry about. If you're between the ages of 35 and 65 you have a minor risk of getting non-life threatening sickness. If you are otherwise immunocompromised, your mileage may vary. If you're over the age of 80, you will die soon anyways, but you should be careful.

Serious Question: Are You Hearing About Anyone With The Flu Anymore or A Cold?
by minimus infor years everyone was told they had to get the flu shot.
because the flu was dangerous and it could even kill you.
now, hardly anyone talks about the flu or having a cold.

@Jeffro: If you stopped reading only what conforms to your viewpoint. It's not Florida bringing down the average. Things don't average out like you think, you should learn some statistics.
I quoted stats from NYC that shows the same if not worse averages, one of the most left-wing cities in one of the most left-wing states in the world. NYC had Republican support at 18.2 percent in 2016 to 22.6 percent in 2020. Even if you contend that ALL Trump voters refuse to vaccinate, you still have to account for a nearly equal amount of "others" that refuse to vaccinate.
87% of blacks voted for Biden/Democrats. Even if all Black Republicans refuse the vaccine, that still leaves MORE Black Democrats refusing the vaccine than Republicans.
And what are the true stats of vaccinations broken down by political party and by state: less than 10% difference. 50.4% of NY was partially vaccinated in May 44.3% of Florida was partially vaccinated at the same time, polls show indeed that Republicans are less likely to vaccinate, but that difference is often within a few percentage points of Democrats.
I don't know what else to say to you: the refusal of vaccination is not a partisan issue, it's a self-preservation issue. It's a trust issue.
Recent polls say 80% of unvaccinated Americans probably or definitely will not get the shot
This is the primary reason: Fauci has flip flopped and lied repeatedly, he even admitted to lying and misleading the public at the beginning of the pandemic. He has in the last week flip flopped several times in different interviews on whether mask mandates are necessary for those vaccinated. Now they're going to reinstate the mask mandates for everyone.

Per WebMD:
In fact, nationwide, 1 in 4 hospital workers who have direct contact with patients had not received a single dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by the end of May, according to a WebMD and Medscape Medical News analysis of data collected by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) from 2,500 hospitals across the U.S.
Your sample size of 5 family members seems a bit too small.

@jeffro: these are easy facts to find at this point. If you had found any non-MSM source for COVID information, eg the CDC and HHS.
Note <25 is not all minors. The age bracket of 12-18 is where, depending on region, you’ll find 60-90% of parents refusing the vaccine. Adults <25 are refusing it as well, given they run no risk. Do you know which population groups has the lowest vaccination rates? Black, inner city primarily Democrats. Do you know of all the teachers that were complaining about COVID kids infecting them that’s why they can’t go to work, 40% in NYC isn’t vaccinated, <50% of fire responders and police officers and <70% of health workers in NYC are vaccinated, despite having the worlds worst region last year. Look up the demographics, blacks are the lowest vaccinated group except native Americans, despite less than 25% of that group voted for Trump.
Again you’re arguing semantics and nitpicking missing the point. Go watch some more CNN, unless they all had aneurysms when it was announced none of the few dozen January 6th protestors got charged with sedition or treason.

Lol. All my information is easily found. Since English is not my native language, you can find some semantics to argue about, but that’s just what cnn does, argue the semantics instead of the substance.
Again, ask yourself, 30-50% of the medical staff does not want the vaccine nor do they think they are at risk. There are many variant factors, but they are largely left wing voters. What is the reason only 20-30% of people under 25 have been vaccinated? Do you think 60-90% of parents today are right-wing conservative cooks that inject bleach instead?
You left-wingers are so far removed from society at large, you spin up concocted stories about conservatives, not even knowing the majority of people you are blaming and which Biden is calling names, is not at all conservative, I’m an atheist, middle-of-the-road socially liberal libertarian, that is basically an Andrew Yang style Democrat (sans the UBI) aka a Democrat or very liberal Republican with a brain. Everything I say is based on real data, which you can find yourself.
The fact it doesn’t stroke with your preconceived notions that government should force down treatments and muzzle our kids, doesn’t make me any likely to vote for Dems ever again. All the Dems currently in power will have to be replaced before I’m ever voting for that stupid party again. They started going downhill seriously with Obama, which was more divisive than even Trump.

I’m just stating facts about how PCR tests work. The CDC is very careful not to lie directly; they just avoid stating accurate facts and the media/PR people spin a boiled down version that isn’t accurate.
If you drill down and understand the substance matter, they warn not to use the new test for diagnostics and the Flu and COVID multiplex tests are indeed separate tests within the same assay.
The reason I say what I say, is because I have experience and multiplex assays are relatively new, they generally have poor specificities and preferential amplification. Also, some people related to the current administration happen to be shareholders in some of the patented technologies.
You can technically analyze the data and find out the likelihood (% confidence) that the test has a specific occurrence, but that’s not what they’re designed to do and analyzing data is really expensive (makes sense for research purposes, not for public health).
They’re designed, as the CDC says, just as the current tests, to establish either a quick and dirty selection (better safe than sorry method) or as a tool to assist in diagnostic testing.

None of you understand the CDC guidance for the new tests. There is no quick test that can differentiate anything. Think of it more like a pregnancy test, it comes back positive or negative and you have a large range of error, typically towards the positive (eg. if you have a hormone imbalance, you will test false positive, but that is acceptable given a false negative whether you are pregnant is worse)
Detailed analysis should be done and is done for any other quick test (eg. HIV or something simple like a cough or a lead test will get you sent to a lab for a blood test). But due to the expected volume, blood/microscopy tests (1-3 day for results) weren't considered feasible, so CDC approved doing quick tests without blood or microscopy tests to back them up. Due to my position in a local hospital (yes, that's where I work), I always got priority blood tests to back up positive quick tests, they always came back negative even though I've tested positive with the PCR test 3 times now. This is partially what is currently driving a 30-40% refusal rate for the vaccine amongst healthcare workers.
Yes, prior tests would not detect flu, they would only detect ANY coronavirus. The new tests can test for ANY flu AND ANY coronavirus. I think there is a third one on the new tests, but I'm too lazy to look it up. At that point, the doctor should send you for a blood test if they went with pre-COVID protocols. The CDC just want to make testing for flu/COVID faster by doing it one test and then telling you to isolate rather than doing 2 or 3 individual tests.
CDC doesn't revoke anything in regards testing, they just won't reimburse you if you don't use their new standards, so hospitals are on the hook for any tests and resulting care. As with everything fast/accurate/cheap, choose two. They chose fast and cheap.

USA House Bill calling for the global repeal of blasphemy, heresy, and apostasy laws, passed overwhelmingly!
by Disillusioned JW inon december 7, 2020 usa congressman jamie raskin's (md-08) bipartisan house resolution 512, calling for the global repeal of blasphemy, heresy, and apostasy laws, passed the house of representatives by an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote of 386-3; see https://raskin.house.gov/2020/12/house-passes-raskin-resolution-calling-global-repeal-blasphemy-heresy-apostasy .
a description of the bill says "the resolution also calls for the immediate release of religious prisoners of conscience worldwide.
as more than 80 countries use blasphemy laws to persecute and imprison religious minorities and dissenters, the house asserted the essential importance of freedom of religion and liberty of conscience globally.".

When has a bill regards human rights ever stopped anyone from ratifying a treaty with the enemy? If we had held to these standards, we wouldn’t have gotten the nuclear treaties with the USSR, which risked proliferation.
Human rights violations are a thing non-free countries do. It’s the job of their population to overthrow their government. But as we’ve seen in places like Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam and Korea, the enemy you know may be better than the enemy you don’t. Either you “imperialize” them and force freedom, or you don’t and risk communism or Islamist theocracy.
Now if there were a bill that would fund anti-communist and anti-Islamist pro-democracy and pro-capitalist groups and fighters in those regions, I would agree. I think everyone can spare some funds for Khomeini, Ping and Castro to get a rocket up their asses.
